Michel Couvreur 'Overaged' Malt Whisky 12 Year, France NV
A powerful & warming whisky from the infamous Michel Couvreur. Michel was a Belgium man in the wine trade with an admiration for Scotch. In 1978 he built himself a cellar in Bouze-lès-Beaune, basically the middle of Burgundy, and began production. His focus was on the grains but more importantly the cask. After his passing in 2013, his loyal cellar-hand and confident, Jean-Arnaud Frantzen took charge along with Michels' son in law Cyril Deschamps. This is a blend of up to 50 different single malts ranging in age from 12-27 years. This vatting ages in ex-sherry butts and is bottled at 86 proof.
