Villa le Prata Brunello di Montalcino, Italy 2019
Villa le Prata Brunello di Montalcino, Italy 2019
Perched upon some of the highest territory in the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Villa le Prata farms just 3 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso vines. They remain a family operation since the estate was founded by Massimo Losappio in 1987, with his grandson Edoardo now at the helm.
They have always farmed organically without synthetic vineyard treatments, as their high-altitude position makes this a natural choice and has also been advantageous in the face of climate change. The cooler nights at their estate help preserve both aromatics and acidity in the grapes, leading to an elegant and expressive style of Brunello. The wines from the classic 2019 vintage are especially beautiful, and we got the last of it available in the US, so don't wait to grab a bottle!
