Antonio Cajide 'Sameirás' Blanco, Ribeiro, Spain 2022
Adega Antonio Cajide is a small family winery in the town of Ribadavia in Ribeiro, Galicia. Antonio Cajide is the son of a winemaking family who sought to restore and reinvigorate their age old vineyards and produce the best possible wines from their native grape varieties and oceanic-Mediterranean climate.
The mountains here act as a natural barrier to protect the territory from storms and create a rain shadow effect, leading to ideal growing conditions in this microclimate. The vineyards are all family-owned and sit at a range of elevations between 75-400 metres above sea level on valleys and hillsides. The vines are planted on terraces and managed entirely by hand.
This blend of native white varietals is crushed and cold macerated until fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 25C. The wine is rested on lees in stainless steel to encourage both fresh acidity and full body.
