Roberto Henríquez País Franco, Itata Valley, Chile 2022
Roberto Henríquez País Franco, Itata Valley, Chile 2022
The driving force behind Roberto's journey into winemaking is the culture, history and character of his Chilean roots. The winemaking style he has adopted was solidified by his time working with Rene Mosse, who taught him the importance of organic viticulture and soil health. Roberto personally and carefully selected his vineyards in the Itata valley, where many vines are over 200 years of age, as they were brought over by Spanish missionaries and abandoned after the revolution. Phylloxera didn't make it this far south which adds to the longevity of these vines. Though the history here has gravity, the wines are far from heavy, but instead are approachable, affordable, and highly drinkable. This juicy and lively red is produced from 200-year-old País vines on the southern edge of the Bío Bío River in some of the warmer temperatures in the Itata Valley. Great for grilling outside or just any time you want a red wine for Summer!
