Zafeirakis Assyrtiko, Thesaly, Greece 2024
Zafeirakis Assyrtiko, Thesaly, Greece 2024
Christos Zafeirakis received his masters in oenology in Milan and worked at wineries in Tuscany, Piedmont, and Alto Aldige before returning to Greece to take over the family estate in the foothills of Mt. Olympus. His knowledge and experience with Italian wines guides his winemaking style toward the preservation of acidity and gastronomic potential in his Greek wines. All of the Ktima Zafeirakis vineyards are certified organic and all wines are made with native yeasts.
This is 100% Assyrtiko grown on slopes dominated by clay, hand-harvested, and fermented and aged in only stainless steel. The nose is zesty with hints of lemon blossom and unripe peach, and the palate is bone dry with crisp acidity, medium body, and a long mineral finish. Excellent pairing for summer seafood on the grill or lighter Greek fare.
