Two Long Island natives, Erik and Benford, have been slowly and quietly searching out this landscape, using Erik’s 18^th century home in Rosyln as their base and (literally) garage winery. Using backyards vineyards farmed organically by locals and natural methods in their winemaking, Floral Terranes is a winery to look out for future vintages. Their production is tiny, so, run don't walk. 

Notes on the vintage from Vom Boden:

From a tiny unnamed site deep in Long Island, rich with clay and glacial deposits, comes this Merlot-based rosé. A perfect winter rosé, the wine has juicy red fruit with soil tones. It has a swagger, fresh, but sexy too, all herbal and savory, saffron and salt and mineral. I like the glowing quality of it – beautiful color. Soulful wine.

Pairing: fish tacos with citrus salsa, grilled shrimp with balsamic glaze
