André Perret 'Clos Chanson,' Condrieu, France 2021

André Perret is a highly-skilled winemaker who grew up with a father who was a vigneron. He initially pursued a career in microbiology, but his passion for enology led him to complete his degree in 1982. Perret strongly believes in respecting the unique terroir of each vineyard and works diligently to avoid the need for chemical treatments by cultivating the soil. He is renowned for producing fresh, structured wines with a distinct Burgundian style, while avoiding excessive use of wood. Perret's impressive winemaking skills have resulted in wines that can age gracefully for over a decade in your cellar.

Notes on the wines from John Livingstone-Learmonth - Drink Rhône

****(*)

(tank, bottling mid-Nov 2022) fine yellow robe; the nose is discreet but intriguing, carries potential, has an air of lime cordial, orange peel, pear, floral hints. This refined, very stylish on the palate, holds sure, neat gras; it extends purely and with a little flair to come. It’s very accurate, and has heart, too, a concentration of pear at its centre. The minerality is well judged. From mid-2024, decant. 2035-37 Nov 2022
