De Martino 'Ungrafted' Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley, Chile 2024

De Martino 'Ungrafted' Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley, Chile 2024

The De Martino family has been producing wine in Chile since 1934, but they began 'Ungrafted' as a side project, focusing on ungrafted vines grown on their own natural rootstocks. The Maipo valley sub-region of 'Isla de Maipo' features riverbed gravel that is perfect for growing Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, producing a pure and vibrant expression of the grape due to the high elevation terroir. Expect all the nuances of Cab Sauv - Bay leaf, tobacco, cassis, graphite - with soft polished tannins and a lighter profile than you'd find in California or Bordeaux.
