'A Vita Rosato, Calabria, Italy 2025
Husband and wife team Francesco and Laura de Franco are in Cirò, a region dominated by one producer: Librandi, who produces over 200,000 cases annually. By contrast, Francesco & Laura make only 2,000 cases total. They work with the grape variety Gaglioppo, a rustic variety native to the area which typically has dusty tannins and aromas of roses; it is an offspring of Sangiovese and a cousin to Nerello Mascalese. This gastronomic rosé is driven by red fruit, a dusty mineral undertone, rose hips, and subtle tannins. 'A Vita Rosato wine will make you think differently about rosé and is an absolute delight with summer pasta, tomato-based fish dishes, aged pecorino, and artichokes.
