Chateau de Fonsalette is one of the three estates run by Emmanuel Reynaud, nephew of the legendary Jacques Reynaud, the proverbial godfather of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Fonsalettte was originally founded by Emmanuel's grandfather, Louis Reynaud, in 1945. Though it totals 120 hectares of land, only 12 hectares are vineyards, with the rest of the estate remaining natural habitat or planted to olive trees and food crops. Like all of the Reynaud family properties it is managed organically with the utmost respect for nature.

The cool microclimate and high levels of biodiversity ensure that yields are low and fruit ripens slowly and evenly. Emmanuel's exceptional skill and humble devotion to non-stop work in the vineyards ensures wines of exceptional character and quality. The wines are always dense but nuanced, with haunting woodsy aromatics and cool herbal tones that accent the deep black fruit and make them distinct from all other wines in the southern Rhône valley.
