Château le Puy 'Emilien,' Bordeaux, France 2018 MAGNUM

Le Puy is located at the second highest point in the Gironde.  The estate has been run by the Amoreau family since 1610.  Today, they are certified biodynamic and and certified organic.  They have the utmost respect for the land, producing a wine of silky tannin and seductive elegance.  The 2018 vintage of this wine is exceptional.  One of the best representations I have seen of this wine in a few vintages.

Pure cherry fruit nose with a bright and expressive palate. Red fruit and plush soave tannins complete the palate maintaining grip and youthful approachability.

Pairing: A holiday meal, beef bourguignon

Grapes: 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Carmenère - 50 year old vines.

Viticulture: Certified Biodynamic, low-sulfur

Soil: Red clay, silt, and limestone top soils on top of the Asteries limestone plateau that extends to Château Le Puy from Saint Émilion.
