Clos Sainte Magdeleine 'Marie de Magdala,' Bouches-du-Rhône Rosé, France 2022
Cassis is one of those magical places on earth, where food, drink and place come together to make a paradise. The vineyards of Clos Sainte Magdeleine are particularly stunning, located on the Mediterranean coast, where the limestone chalk cliffs meet the warm azure waters. The Sack-Zafiropulos family has been making wine here for four generations and continues to craft wines of grace and finesse, yet enough longevity that will keep your mouth watering for years to come. Unlike the other rosés from the family, which are raised in stainless-steel tanks, Marie de Magdala comes of age in sandstone amphora. The wine will still age for some time to come and would benefit from cellaring. However, if you want to pop the cork sooner just give a nice long decant before enjoying it.
Grapes: Grenache
Soil: Clay Limestone
Viticulture: Organic
*The Parcels are located on the terraces of the Cap Canaille. Fermented with native yeasts in 10 hectoliter “jarres en gres” (sandstone amphorae). The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation. Aged longer on the lees and always released later than the other roses.
