David Trousselle Haut Cotes du Beaune Blanc, Burgundy, France 2023

David Trousselle Haut Cotes du Beaune Blanc, Burgundy, France 2023

David Trousselle is a tiny domaine, located in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, in a protected valley between St Aubin and St Romain. In addition to his Hautes Côtes wines, he makes this Santenay Rouge from a 0.3 hectare parcel. With gentle, indigenous yeast vinifications, elevage in minimal amounts of new wood, Trousselle makes beautiful, textured wines that offer a glimpse into the future of Burgundy where lesser known and appreciated appellations have their time to shine. Fruit is destemmed, minimal new oak. Very classic notes of cherry, pencil shavings, umami, with great tension. Once you have one bottle of this, you will want another.

Grape: Pinot Noir, .3 hectare in Santenay split between three parcels (one rocky hillside, one near Chassagne, one under a limestone quarry)

Soil: Limestone & Clay
