Louis Barruol 'La Pierrelle' Hermitage Rouge, France 2016

Louis Barruol 'La Pierrelle' Hermitage Rouge, France 2016
Louis Barruol is one of the Rhône Valley’s most wildly respected winemakers. He is the fourteenth generation in his family to make wine in his sixteenth-century domaine in the Southern Rhône’s Gigondas; you may be familiar with it, Château de Saint Cosme.
The label ‘Louis Barruol’ is Barruol’s micro-negotiant business in conjunction with importer Kermit Lynch. Louis became a micro-négociant to work closely with top growers in the Northern Rhône who still work with Sérine, an ancient clone of Syrah known for its aromatic finesse.
Their wine is aged in small, old barrels for 12 months, then 6 months in tank. Kermit visits once a year to choose barrels and assist in the blend for their label. This rare wine is the result of two legendary palates coming together to deliver one of the best examples of Syrah made.
