Tamanohikari 'Fox of Fortune' Junmai Ginjo Sake, Kyoto, Japan
Tamanohikari 'Fox of Fortune' Junmai Ginjo Sake, Kyoto, Japan
Tamanohikari was established in Kyoto in 1673 as a premier shuzo (brewery) to supply sake for the Shogunate. They continue to specialize in very pure Junmai expressions made of traditional rice varietals unadulterated with additives or extra alcohol. Fox of Fortune is a particularly clean and elegant sake made with Yamada Nishiki rice fermented to dryness. However, it is a fairly rich sake due to the quality of this rice combined with the exceptional sacred water source from the foothills of the Shinto shrine at Fushimi. The label features a beckoning fox (manekitsune) which is a classic symbol of luck and good fortune in the Shinto religion, making this a perfect gift bottle.
