Pichler-Krutzler 'Durnstein' Grüner Veltliner, Wachau, Austria 2021
Pichler-Krutzler 'Durnstein' Grüner Veltliner, Wachau, Austria 2021
Located within the famed Wachau region of Austria, Erich Krutzler and his wife, Elisabeth Pichler-Krutzler, of winemaking lineage F.X. Pichler, are producing precise and flavorful wines. The grapes of this wine are growing in the flat area surrounding the town of Dürnstein alongside the river Danube on well drained sandy sediments and gravel. These soils create an aromatical kind of wine characterized by timeless elegance. Early picking causes a moderate alcohol level and a well-integrated bracing acidity. The wine is totally dry, showing notes of minerals, white pepper, lightly fruity elements. The wine is quite mineral in its nature but is holds an inviting power on the mid-palate that makes this a sneakily serious little wine.
