Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay, Burgundy, France 2022

Pierre Morey is a highly respected winery based in Meursault, Burgundy, and is known for its precision in crafting exceptional white wines, particularly Chardonnay. The estate, which has been family-owned for several generations, has vineyards in some of the top appellations of Burgundy, including Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, and Batard-Montrachet.

Since 1997, Pierre Morey has been farming biodynamically, a key aspect of their winemaking philosophy. This approach emphasizes respect for nature and the vineyard's ecosystem, enhancing the terroir's expression in their wines. Morey's wines are known for their purity, complexity, and the ability to age beautifully over time.

In addition to producing wines under his own name, Pierre Morey was also the cellar master for Domaine Leflaive, one of Burgundy’s most prestigious producers, from 1988 to 2008. This connection has further cemented his reputation as one of the most skilled winemakers in the region.

The winery focuses on low-intervention techniques, allowing natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts and using minimal sulfur. Their wines are often aged in oak barrels, which are carefully selected to impart structure and complexity without overwhelming the delicate fruit and minerality characteristic of their vineyards.
