Roc de Cambes Côtes de Bourg Rouge, Bordeaux 2019

The Mitjavile family of Tertre Roteboeuf fame purchased this nearby vineyard in 1987 and produced the first vintage of Roc de Cambes in 1988. Since then it has been highly regarded among the top Bordeaux wines.

The 12.5-hectare vineyard is planted to 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and all Malbec and Cabernet Franc vines have been removed. Roc de Cambes has a south by southwest exposure on the peak of a plateau, with a view of the river.  Most of the vines used for Roc de Cambes are close to an impressive 50 years of age, with some even older vines adding to the concentration, character and complexity of the wines.

Roc de Cambes is vinified in traditional concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged in an average of 50% new, French oak barrels for between 18 to 24 months before bottling.
