Coste di Valanche Langhe Bianco is a new wine. The vines for the old, beloved Coste di Riavolo were suffering so she ripped them out and started her white wine anew in a new vineyard site. In 2017, she planted Riesling and Gewurztraminer in the upper reaches of the Rocca Ciglie vineyard (from which she produces her Dolcetto "Vigna Dolci" as well) at 650 meters altitude. The incoming 2019 comprises 90% Riesling and 10% Gewurztraminer, and it underwent a five-day maceration on its skins. (Fermentation, as is iron law here, happened spontaneously.) This is a somewhat briefer period of contact than she employed for the Coste di Riavolo, and combined with the elegance-enhancing character of the new source vineyard, the wine is brighter, finer, and slightly more delicate than its predecessor.  This wine is both cut but creamy with juicy notes of tangerines, fried plantains & potpourri.
