San Fereolo Dogliani, Piedmont, Italy 2015
Nicoletta Bocca purchased her property in Dogliani in 1992. Dogliani is a DOCG in Piedmont, just south of Barolo, that is dedicated to the production of Dolcetto and this her flagship wine. When it comes to Nicoletta's Dolcetto, forget what you think you know about Dolcetto because this is very different. The 7-year wait from harvest to release reflects the importance of the “San Fereolo” to Nicoletta, who carefully tends the wine through its 3 years in large barrel before a 3-4 year hibernation in the bottle cellar. The long waited release date empowers & integrates the savory and earthy elements of Dolcetto. San Fereolo Dolcetto is a densely structured & complex wine showing notes of bramble, cacao & herbs accompanied by brooding, dark tannins.
