Philippe Chavy Coteaux Bourguignons, Burgundy 2021

Philippe Chavy Coteaux Bourguignons, Burgundy 2021

Philippe Chavy Coteaux Bourguignons, Burgundy 2021

Philippe Chavy is a producer with a long family history and ownership of storied plantings in some of the most esteemed sites in Burgundy.  Among his fellow biodynamic vintners he is known for a light touch with his reds, making the cool 2021 vintage the perfect time for the style of Domaine Chavy to shine.

A nose of juicy red cherry and rosey floral tones, but also plenty of woodsy spice, amounting to a balanced profile that is neither too earthy nor too fruity. The mouthfeel is expectedly light and fresh, the acidity is tart but vibrant, and the tannins are scaled back, making this especially food-friendly for lighter fare.

Certainly one for those who appreciate the aromatic and ethereal side of Pinot Noir.  This wine is more than just a value buy, it's an excellent example of how the right Burgundy producer can work magic with a cool vintage.
