Antoine Lienhardt 'Emphase,' Côtes de Nuits-Villages, France 2022
It is our considered opinion that the time has come to regard Antoine and his domain as a winemaker deserving of serious attention rather than merely a rising star. We have been following the wines of Antoine Liendhart since 2019. These wines stand out due to the high percentage of whole-cluster, nearly sans soufre winemaking, and the diverse range of aging vessels, such as concrete and amphora. Some may dismiss them as just another natural Burgundy, but we strongly recommend giving them a chance. Those who have tasted these wines can attest to their intense purity of fruit, intuitive integration of stem, and overall balance.
In 2011, he took over 4.2 hectares of vines planted by his grandfather in the 1960s. The 2012 vintage produced the first estate-bottled wines in the family. The biodynamically farmed regional, and Côte de Nuits Villages vines have a drive and energy that command your attention immediately and will evolve. Highly expressive bursting with sour cherry and florals, persistent length of fruit and a welcome back bone of nervy acidty.
