This property had a long history of selling fruit to other wineries in the region before the Schmelzer Family purchased the property in 2003.  These are honest wines of structure and power.  The vineyards age range from plantings 2003-2010. The vinification and maturation is done in same style as traditional Chianti, however, this wine cannot be labeled with the 'Chianti' regional designation as it's composed of mainly the classic Bordeaux varietals. This full-bodied blend drinks like Bordeaux but with a warm-weather Italian personality. 

Grape: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Colorino

Pairing: Homemade Meatballs, Grilled Skirt Steak

Viticulture: Certified organic and biodynamic 

Soil: shale (Galestro) 70%, sandstone (Arenaria-Calcare-Pietraforte) 20%, limestone (Alberese) 10%
