Catherine & Pierre Breton 'Les Perrieres' Bourgueil, France 2019
Catherine & Pierre are two vignerons who are completely immersed in what they do. They live on the property producing wines with exceptional expression of the terroir with minimal intervention. Their 'Les Perrieres' vineyard is home to 70-year-old Cabernet Franc vines planted on one of the most prized hillside parcels in Bourgueil. The old vines give very low yields of 20 hectoliters/hectare on average, and the siliceous clay and limestone soils produce Cab Franc with increased fruit expression and more tannins than most sites anywhere in the Loire Valley.
This most prized of Breton wines showcases deep red and black fruit balanced by herbaceous and savory notes such as wild berries, clove, freshly dressed game, forest herbs, wet slate, blackberry puree, and black peppercorn. This will be a great addition to your cellar as it will age gracefully for at least another decade.
