Enderle & Moll Spätburgunder Rosé, Germany 2023
Enderle & Moll Spätburgunder Rosé, Germany 2023
Sven Enderle and Florian Moll founded Enderle & Moll in 2007, consisting of 5 hectares of vineyards in Münchweier, a historic winemaking village on the slopes of the Black Forest in Baden, Germany. The dynamic duo acquired quite a cult following by producing vibrant and energetic wines made with low-intervention, organic and biodynamic practices.
As importer Stephen Bitterolf of Vom Boden put it:
"Enderle & Moll was the first estate I tasted that so clearly offered a counter-narrative to what most Spätburgunder was at that moment. Where most German Spätburgunder valued dense color, extraction, smooth, round edges and voluminous textures, Enderle & Moll’s Pinots were alarmingly light in color and extraction, and often times angular and structured. In a world that valued fruit, Enderle & Moll seemed to focus on soil tones, bramble, herbs, minerals. When most growers in Germany hadn’t really heard of natural wine, or had nonchalantly dismissed it, Enderle & Moll quickly and instinctually found the value and insight to be had here, taking from this movement many of the ideas that are now unquestionably accepted by even the most “classic” of contemporary winegrowers..."
* Unfortunately, Florian decided to retire and close the winery forever, and this is the LAST VINTAGE! Sad, yes, very sad, but there is one case of their EPIC Pinot Noir Rosé.
The rosé exudes notes of red apple skin and a whole heaping pile of ripe cranberries. Lip smackingly delicious. This is not your classic rosé, treat this wine like a red wine, but give it a little chill! We love rosé like these for transitional periods, from fall to winter. Thank you Florian for all you've done.
