La Miraja is a small winery converted from an 11th century castle armory in Castagnole Monferrato. Today they produce wines from Grignolino, Barbera, Freisa, and have access to the oldest Ruche vines in the region in the famed Majole vineyard. The operation is run by seventh-generation viticulturist, Eugenio Gatti, whose experience and use of traditional winemaking methods is what makes the La Miraja wines so pure and energetic.  Eugenio's Grignolino is approachable and aromatic, with notes of crushed cherries and bramble fruit. It is a light and easygoing red which takes well to being chilled.
