Scar of the Sea was established in 2012 and is owned & operated by Mikey & Gina Giugni in San Luis Obispo, California. They work directly with growers at carefully selected vineyard sites. People who are instrumental in the future of agriculture. In the cellar, the wine are crafted with as little intervention as possible, made with the intention to tell a story of where they come from.

This wine is a blend of two Santa Maria Vineyards. The younger plantings are from Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard and the old vine plantings are from Rancho Vinedo Vineyard, planted in 1973.

The 2021 vintage is a compilation of 5 separate picks, fermented with native yeast and partial whole cluster. The wine aged for 7 months in old french oak barrels and was bottled with minimal sulfur and without filtration. 1,875 cases were produced of this wine.

Grape: Pinot Noir 

Soil: Valley floor, consisting of alluvial soils from the neighboring creek and steep landscape
