This light and easygoing entry red from the venerable Domaine de Pallus, is named 'Messanges' after one of the many localized terms for Cabernet Franc. The younger vines on the estate are used for this bottling, but the grapes get the full attention they deserve in the vineyard and cellar. A long and gentle maceration and extended elevage in ex-Burgundy barrels is winemaker Bertrand Sourdais' secret to subtle and truly expressive Chinon rouge. Refreshing and lightly peppery, but smooth with typical red berry notes, this makes an excellent weekday dinner red.
