Domaine Désiré Petit 'Le Grapiot' Arbois Chardonnay, Jura, France 2020
Domaine Désiré Petit 'Le Grapiot' Arbois Chardonnay, Jura, France 2020
Domaine Désiré Petit uses Chardonnay from the 50 year old vines of the biodynamic 'Le Grapiot' vineyard in Jura to make this complex and characterful wine. The grapes are fermented with their native yeasts in new oak foudres, and aged in the same, with no filtering, racking, or any sulphur additions. Now you're probably imagining what this "Natural Chardonnay" tastes like, but you will be pleasantly surprised, as it is not so heavy as it may sound, with plenty of lively acidity, precision, and excellent balance between the fruit, oak, and mineral components of the wine. This can compete with many white Burgundies that cost twice the price.
